Around the prefect Simon Bertoux, the public prosecutor, the sub-prefect Delphine Lemaire, representatives of the department's sports associations gathered to testify, debate and share on addictions and violence in sport. Ariège is no exception, isolated cases have occurred. Ariège has a large number of graduates in all disciplines with some very popular sectors. Rugby has 22 clubs for 3,365 licensees, football has 35 clubs for 4,537 licensees. Basketball is approaching 1,500 licensees with 9 clubs. Volleyball and its 3 clubs have 300 members. Handball has 6 clubs for 800 licensees. During this meeting which took place in the prefecture, the volunteer leaders of the clubs shared certain experiences, asked questions, and raised a few questions in view of what is happening almost everywhere in France. The Public Prosecutor did not hide any issue and responded to the fears and questions of the leaders, as well as the prefect who explained that the State provided all its support to the sports sector.
