In Guadeloupe, cycling is a very popular sport, especially during major events. But the observation is there, the lives of cyclists are in danger on the roads of Guadeloupe. To alert and raise awareness, around 250 cyclists responded to the call from the Run Caraibes association, this Sunday morning, January 19, to share a 36 km outing around the motto “One cyclist, one life”.
It is 7 a.m. this Sunday morning, January 19, at the Alliance roundabout in Baie-Mahault, when the first cyclists arrive at the Run Caribbean Association stand. They are responding to the association's call “one cyclist, one life” because they want to warn of the dangers of cycling in Guadeloupe.
Before setting off, everyone must wear a yellow bracelet to distinguish themselves from other cyclists. Among them, real cycling enthusiasts but also slightly more occasional users like Claudel who nevertheless wanted to participate in this outing.

Mylène cycled every week before being hit by a vehicle last October. After a trip to the operating room and four rehabilitation sessions per week which she still follows, she is now anxious about the idea of getting back on the road. Raising awareness of road dangers is therefore important to her. Besides, she has not forgotten her accident.

And just like her, more than 250 cycling lovers wanted to take part in this exceptional outing. A real source of pride for the organizers who regret the unfortunately limited impact of the numerous awareness campaigns.
