Continuing to participate in the “positive development” of Bruges while finding savings on public finances, this will be the challenge in Bruges in 2025, as in many communities elsewhere. Several projects will nevertheless come to fruition this year. Mayor Brigitte Terraza listed some of them at the greeting ceremony on Tuesday, January 14. At Tasta, Place Jean-Moulin has begun its transformation and will have a facelift next winter. Its delivery is scheduled for early 2026. It will be more airy, more green and equipped with play areas.

The Petit Bruges district will be completely delivered. “An exemplary operation from an environmental point of view, but also through the delivery of the first housing units under real solidarity leases, which allows modest families to acquire a property,” she underlined. In this same sector, the first stone of a pedestrian and bicycle path will be laid in February between Durin and Claudeville streets. It will cross the tram C track.

Terrefort

“The new Terrefort district welcomed its first residents at the start of the year. We are starting to see what this 38,000 m² space will look like,” said the elected official. 400 trees will be planted there. Shops will open in 2025 and 2026 and a large food store (with silo parking) will be located in the current park and ride by 2027. Commercial and urban revitalization will also concern the city center. 2025 will see the start of work on the new municipal police station in the old library.


For once, the ceremony ended with a hip-hop show with the dancers of Last Squad Crew, a group coached by Omar Remichi.
