The President of the National Assembly, El Malick Ndiaye, and the Ambassador of the United States to Senegal, Michael Raynor, reaffirmed Monday their common commitment to developing strategic projects and promoting the fundamental values ​​of democracy, transparency and good governance, within the framework of strengthened parliamentary diplomacy.

The President of the National Assembly, El Malick Ndiaye, received this Monday, January 13, the Ambassador of the United States to Senegal, Michael Raynor. During this meeting, the two parties reaffirmed their common commitment to developing strategic projects and promoting the fundamental values ​​of democracy, transparency and good governance, within the framework of strengthened parliamentary diplomacy. According to a press release published by the National Assembly, the President praised the “exceptional” quality of bilateral relations between the United States and Senegal. He highlighted the constant support of the United States and reaffirmed the desire of the Senegalese Parliament to strengthen partnerships with American institutions, particularly around the principles of good governance, transparency and strengthening institutional capacities.

The same source informs that on this occasion, Ambassador Raynor also underlined the capital importance of parliamentary cooperation and reaffirmed the commitment of the United States to actively support Senegalese parliamentarians in the exercise of their missions. “In his speech, the President of the National Assembly first presented his condolences following the death of the former President of the United States, Jimmy Carter. He also expressed, on behalf of all the deputies representing the Senegalese people, his deep compassion for the victims of the devastating fire currently raging in Los Angeles,” the note said.
