AS Pikine intends to do its best to overcome US Gorée on Thursday at the end of the match between them for the 32nd finals of the Senegal Cup, declared the coach of the Pikine club, Lamine Diagne .
»Gorée is the team in good form at the moment. He beat us in the championship. We welcome them at home in the Senegal Cup, it will be another match,” he said at a press conference on Wednesday, on the eve of this meeting.
The AS Pikine-US Gorée match, scheduled for Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Alassane Djigo stadium in Pikine, constitutes one of the flagship meetings of the 32nd finals of the Senegal Cup.
US Gorée is the current leader of Ligue 1, with AS Pikine occupying 12th place in the second division standings.
The island players beat their opponents from Pikine (2-0) on the sixth day of the Senegalese Ligue 1, the elite championship.
The AS Pikine coach said he supervised his opponent last weekend and claims to have detected certain “strong and weak points” of US Gorée.
»We know how to approach this match to win it. We are very confident,” underlined Lamine Diagne.
According to Souleymane Cissé, captain of AS Pikine, meeting the current leader of the elite championship remains “a challenge and a test” for him and his teammates.
»A footballer must play against the best. Currently, Gorée is the leader. We must test ourselves on a collective and individual level. We want to compete against them. We have the means,” added Souleymane Cissé.
