The organizing committee of the 29th edition of the Ouagadougou Pan-African Cinema and Television Festival (Fespaco) officially revealed, this Friday, January 10, 2024, the list of films in competition for the 2025 edition.
A total of 235 films from 48 African countries will compete from February 22 to March 1. Initially, the committee had received 1,351 films, according to Bétamou Fidèle Aymar Tamini, president of the general organizing committee, during a press conference held in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso).
Among these productions, 18 Senegalese films are in competition, including the fiction feature film Demba by Mamadou Dia, which will be in the running for the Yennenga Gold Standard. This is the only Senegalese film in this category.
