At the end of 2024, Bruno Duguey, mayor of Épaney (Calvados), near Falaise, and his municipal council invited the new inhabitants at the town hall.
The event took place in the presence of the presidents of the associations as well as the heads of the various commissions. Without forgetting Karine Hunou, the town hall secretary.
Within the commune, there are around fifteen new families. Seven of them did not forget the meeting, the others apologized because some do not yet live there.
The mayor and councilors introduced themselves in turn, as did the presidents of associations and the new residents.
For the chief magistrate Bruno Duguey, “settling in a new municipality is not always easy, which is why we must pay attention to the good integration of everyone. This is a way for you to be able to meet us more easily. And also allow you to meet associations which constitute a good means of integration.”
Coming to settle in Épaney means choosing a quality of life not too far from city services while enjoying life in the countryside. There are sometimes inconveniences with harvest periods with noise at night, wet periods with certain works which can cause a little mud on the road. He happened to hear a cow but it was only fleeting. But it could also be a tractor that will bring out several cars stuck in the snow. This is what we call living together.
The commune of Épaney was presented. It includes a municipal council of 15 elected officials with floral, works, illuminations, heritage, paths and CCAS commissions.
The town hall is open to the public on Tuesdays from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the presence of a deputy and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. when the mayor is present.
Schools
The schools are part of an RPI des 4 vents with one class in Perrières and one class in Olendon, three classes in Épaney. Sivom provides school buses in the morning and evening. There is morning and evening daycare and a lunchtime canteen on each site.
The library is run by volunteers with Sylvie in charge. It is open every Wednesday afternoon. The early childhood relay (RPE), formerly Ram (maternity assistant relay), is a free place of reception, information and support for childminders, parents and their children.
The town of Épaney welcomes this organization twice a month. The morning is reserved for the reception of childminders and the afternoon by appointment at the reception of parents looking for information.
The town is covered by collective sanitation managed by the CDC du Pays de Falaise. It is separative sanitation, not sewerage.
Sports facilities include a hiking trail, a city stadium and a tennis court. The town's associations consist of the sports and leisure club, the alumni club, the hunting society, the 4 winds race.
After all these presentations, the mayor invited the audience around a friendly drink. People were able to visit the library premises and see where the school was located.
