Météo France has placed Calvados on orange flood alert, this Wednesday, January 8, 2025, from the beginning of the afternoon until Thursday noon. It is advisable to stay away from watercourses and bridges and to keep informed of changes in the weather.

Precaution is required this Wednesday, January 8, 2025: the Calvados department has been placed on orange flood alert by Météo France. The alert remains at the yellow level for rain and flooding as well as snow and ice across the entire region.
The weather service had announced the arrival of heavy rains this Wednesday, with at least 15 mm in the north of the region and up to 30 mm in the southern part. Precipitation can cause significant flooding, which can lead to dPower cuts and dikes may be weakened or submerged.

The weather service gives some advice on behavior to adopt in the event of flooding: move away from waterways and bridges, avoid traveling and do not take a submerged road, even partially, monitor the rising water , do not go down into the basements.
It is recommended to keep informed of developments in the situation on the Vigicrues government website or on Météo France. The maps are updated at least twice a day at 6 a.m. and 4 p.m.
With temperatures dropping in the afternoon, snow is expected in Seine-Maritime. A clear mild spell should take place in the evening but the flood watch lasts until Thursday January 9, at noon.
