Julien Guibert, National Rally deputy for Nièvre, pays tribute to Jean-Marie Le Pen, founder of the National Front, who died this Tuesday, January 7.
“Jean-Marie Le Pen began his life as a ward of the nation, then a fisherman, an underground miner, hired under the French uniform. He was a deputy, a great tribune, we cannot take that away from him. He was a precursor of the national cause, he always defended the identity and sovereignty of France, alone and against everyone. As departmental head of the RN, my thoughts are with his family. »
“We are not here to judge”
Jean-Marie Le Pen has also been convicted on numerous occasions for provoking hatred and discrimination based on origin, contesting crimes against humanity or even advocating war crimes. His participation in acts of torture in Algeria was also recognized.
But Julien Guibert prefers “not to elaborate” on these subjects. “There have been enough articles about it, the day he died is not the time to talk about it. Wasn't he wrong to be right too soon? We are not here to judge. He is a figure from the national camp who is disappearing. »
