On the night of December 31, the police and gendarmerie forces were massively deployed throughout the department's roads for alcohol and drug checks. 40 people lost their lives in 2024 on the roads of Maine-et-Loire.
Bikers as reinforcements
Until January 11, 2025, 12 bikers from the CRS West zonal motorcycle unit are deployed throughout the Maine-et-Loire department. Their mission: to intensify road checks to prevent risky behavior.
These operations target in particular:
- Alcohol and drug screening,
- Speeding,
- Dangerous behavior.
Every year in France, 40% of fatal accidents involve a driver who has consumed alcoholtaken narcotics, or both. 60% of fatal accidents affecting young people occur at night and 29% of these involve alcohol.
