The president of the FFF, Philippe Diallo, reacted calmly to the announcement of the departure of Didier Deschamps from the Blues bench after the 2026 World Cup. A decision he says he learned during the holidays: « I didn’t fall out of my chair »he confided to The Team.
Leave at the right time
For Diallo, this choice is « responsible and elegant » for a man who, at the end of his contract, will have devoted “around ten years with the French team”. He is even convinced that this announcement will work in favor of the Blues : « This can provide additional peace of mind. Didier and the French team have suffered a lot of unfair criticism, and now that his future is clarified, everyone will feel freer. »
Regarding the timing of the latter, Le Graët’s successor believes that this statement comes at the right time : « Far enough from the matches we have in March not to harm the France team. » For the future, Diallo refuses to give in to pressure: there is no question of revealing the name of the future coach before the departure of Deschamps, for example. « respect » for the latter and his players.
