“Around 3:10 a.m., we received a call for a hit-and-run that had just occurred in front of 1395 rue Brûlotte,” explains police spokesperson Isabelle Gendron in a press release. The complainant explains to us that he started to turn left and a white Kia vehicle tried to overtake him on the left, hitting him in the front of his vehicle and continuing on its way.”
Approximately 20 minutes later, another call was made to the SPS for another similar incident, this time occurring at the corner of Belvédère Nord and Frontenac streets. “The caller explains to us that the driver of a white Kia hit the rear of his vehicle while he was stopped at a red light. When he went to meet him, the culprit allegedly threatened him and fled,” continues Ms. Gendron.
The police found the white Kia abandoned at 361 rue de l’Ontario.
“According to the traces visible in the snow, our officers noted that the vehicle left the road by taking too wide to turn right from Portland Street towards Ontario Street. The vehicle mounted the sidewalk, struck a stationary vehicle in the courtyard of 1267 Portland and ended up in the snow bank and landscaping,” summarizes Ms. Gendron.
The 26-year-old motorist, with no prior record, was arrested by patrol officers. His vehicle was seized for 30 days and his driver’s license was suspended for 90 days.
