Two years after his arrival on the fourteenth floor of the TF1 group tower, and one year after relaunching the channel in its conquest of spectators aged 25 to 49, demanded by advertisers, Rodolphe Belmer is celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the former premier channel of the French Radio and Television Office (ORTF) with serenity. The CEO of the private audiovisual group provides an initial assessment of the TF1+ platform, spearhead of the “digitalization” strategy of front page programs.

With an 18.7% audience share, TF1 was the most watched channel in 2024. On January 3, however, the show “Gladiator” earned it one of its worst historical audiences. Is the year starting well, or badly, for TF1?

Pretty good! The failure of this franchise (rescheduled for the second part of the evening) is only an epiphenomenon. In 2024, TF1’s audience share increased by 0.1 point compared to 2023, despite the broadcast of the Olympic Games for one month by Télévisions. For us, it is a remarkable performance, which is based on our two pillars: our offer of French fiction, which has been profoundly renewed (with the series Cat’s Eyes, HPI, Panda, Master Crimes) and attracts the audience in prime time as well as during the day – More beautiful lifescheduled after the 1 p.m. news, brings together two million viewers – and the information. The news [journal télévisé] at 8 p.m. is at its highest since 2020 (5.2 million viewers) and the gap with that of France 2 is just as historic (1.2 million on average). As for “1 p.m.”, it achieves twice the score of that of France 2.
