Addresses from the outdoor world are joining the movement and trying it this year, by exceptionally welcoming customers during the colder months.

This is the case of the Lac Dionne outfitter. Its owner, Jonathan Pigeon, is focusing, among other things, on the development of snowmobile trails. For the moment, he notes that the crowds are more local, but there are some who come with their family from outside […]they bring them here, so they show them the areareports the owner.

The Baie-Comeau Tourism campaign extends from skiing to snowshoeing, ice climbing and ice fishing. The cultural side is not left behind, for example with the Cinoche film festival and the Christmas markets. According to Jessika Régimbald, there is the potential to create future jobs.

Even for organizations whose activities are already well established in winter, the development of this niche in the region can help attract new fans.

This is the case of the president of the Amédée River trails, Jacques Bérubé, who is always looking to expand his pool of cross-country ski enthusiasts. I am proud of my region, but I must not be the only one to be proud of my region, no, there must be others!

Although the vagaries of the weather cannot be avoided, Jessika Régimbald considers that Baie-Comeau is doing well on a provincial scale and remains a sector with good snow cover.

The tourism development officer therefore remains hopeful that spring break will be an opportunity for many to discover the city’s attractions, such as the great outdoors in nature.
