The DGSN promoted 10,393 Moroccan police officers during the 2024 fiscal year. This figure is equivalent to approximately 68% of the total number of candidates on the police promotion tables.

The Moroccan General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), through a press release, made these figures public, which also specify that the beneficiaries of the advancement are divided between 7,005 uniformed police officers and 3,388 civilians.

The DGSN paid particular attention to lower and middle-ranking agentsspecifies the same source, noting that 3,564 officers benefited from promotion to the rank of police brigadier, 1,269 to that of chief brigadier and 1,716 to that of principal police inspector.

The promotion boards for selection were based on a comprehensive evaluation system which evaluates the performance of officers, their annual qualifications, their professional competence, their merit, their professional career and their seniority in the profession as well as in the rank. The criteria also include the nature and importance of the position and the mission accomplished.

The institution highlights the importance of this development and expects it to take place on an annual basis. In addition, she considers that it is an essential incentive to motivate police officers, women and men, to become more committed to the exercise of their duties, to their assets and to the improvement of security services. .

The DGSN also reaffirms its attachment to career development as a fundamental pillar of the proper functioning of the police.

Assessment by 2024

It is also important to mention that in 2024, according to DGSN figures, 755,541 criminal cases were registered, an increase compared to 738,748 in 2023. On the other hand, violent crimes, which directly affect the security of civilians, decreased by 10%.

Additionally, national security services dismantled 123 criminal networks active in organizing illegal immigration and human trafficking activities in 2024, an increase of 2% compared to 2023.

Regarding offenses related to the use of fraudulent means of payment and counterfeit banknotes, an increase of 32% was recorded, with 573 cases processed, of which 146 related to counterfeit currency and 472 to counterfeiting of banknotes. payment instruments and bank cards.

In addition, 504 cases related to public governance were registered in 2024, 5% less than the previous year, involving corruption and influence peddling, embezzlement, misappropriation of public funds, as well as extortion and abuse of power.

It is also important to note that the DGSN strives to capitalize on the results obtained in the modernization of infrastructure and police services in response to citizens’ expectations in terms of public police service.

Furthermore, this institution intends to strengthen and promote international cooperation in security matters, through the exchange of its experience in the field of the fight against terrorism and organized crime.

One of the projects, in the final stages of completion, is the headquarters of the DGSN in Rabat. This structure will bring together all directorates and services in an integrated space, taking into account the rationalization of human and financial resources allocated to the management of the various services of the DGSN at the central level.

Another project is part of security preparations for the organization of upcoming sporting events such as the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 World Cup. The DGSN is planning a number of projects and programs for professional qualification and improvement of structures.

This includes the creation of new brigades and new services, in particular dog patrols in the cities of Agadir, Rabat, Casablanca, Fez, Marrakech and Tangier, which will host the 2030 World Cup.

She also hopes to become a full member of the “Stadia Project” supervised by INTERPOL, which aims to share experiences and consolidate results obtained in the area of ​​capacity building of police services linked to the organization of major sporting events.
