Sunday evening, the Golden Globes will be marked by a strong presence of Canadian artists, notably Pamela Anderson and Gabriel LaBelle, both British Columbians nominated for the first time.
The former actressAlert to Malibu (Baywatch) is nominated for Best Drama Actress for her portrayal of a Las Vegas revue dancer in the film The Last Showgirl.
Angelina Jolie, Kate Winslet, Nicole Kidman, Tilda Swinton and Fernanda Torres were also nominated for this award.

This is the first time that Pamela Anderson has been selected for the Golden Globes award for best actress.

Gabriel LaBelle was nominated for the award for best actor in a comedy-drama for his interpretation of the role of Lorne Michaels young in Saturday Night, a film about the premiere which retraces the events of the first broadcast of the cult show Satrurday Night Live.
Lorne Michaels, a Torontonian, created this show in the 1970s.
Dune :part twoa science fiction film co-written and directed by Quebec filmmaker Denis Villeneuve, is in the running for best dramatic film.

Martin Shorta Hamilton Ontarian, was nominated for Best Actor in a Television Series for his role in Only Murders in the Building, a series broadcast on Disney Plus.
The movie Deadpool et Wolverine directed by Montrealer Shawn Levy with Vancouver actor Ryan Reynolds, who co-wrote the screenplay, is in the running for the prize which rewards cinematic and box office success of films.
