7th – Morocco will soon host the blockbuster “The Odyssey”

Sir Christopher Edward Nolan, an Anglo-American director renowned for his ability to manipulate time, space and narrative, embarks on one of his most ambitious projects to date. His adaptation of Homer’s Odyssey is expected to begin filming this January 2025, marking a bold venture into the realm of ancient Greek epics.

Production is expected to take place in Morocco, Italy and the United Kingdom until April, a remarkably concise schedule for a film of this scale, according to the filmofilia website.

Nolan, no stranger to tight schedules, cut Oppenheimer’s shoot down to just 57 days, allowing him to stay within his $100 million budget.

However, The Odyssey comes with a much more generous budget of $250 million, suggesting a visual and narrative scale worthy of its legendary source material.

The cast list reads like that of a Hollywood dream team: Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, Matt Damon, Robert Pattinson and Lupita Nyong’o will bring to life the iconic characters from Homer’s 8th century epic century BC From Ulysses and Penelope to the suitors vying for the hand of the queen, each role holds immense dramatic potential.

Following in the footsteps of The Iliad, famously adapted into the 2004 film Troy, The Odyssey chronicles the perilous journey of Odysseus as he struggles to return home after the Trojan War. Along the way, he faces mythical creatures, divine interventions and inner conflicts, while his wife Penelope fends off unwanted suitors at home.
