Famous drag queen The Vivienne died at the age of 32 this weekend, her agent announced.

Sad news. An essential figure in the drag queen scene, The Vivienne died at the age of 32. Well known for winning the first season of the show RuPaul's Drag Race UK in 2019, James Lee Williams, his real name, died this weekend.

“It is with great sadness that we announce that our beloved James Lee Williams passed away this weekend. James was an incredibly loved, warm and extraordinary person. His family is heartbroken over the loss of their son, brother and uncle. They are very proud of the wonderful things that James has accomplished in his life and career,” his agent Simon Jones announced on Sunday on the networks. “We will not communicate any further details,” he continues, without specifying the circumstances of his disappearance.

According to the BBC, police in the county of Chesire, in the northwest of England, told the media: “there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of the artist.”

Born in 1992 in Wales, The Vivienne was a regular guest on British television sets. This character also participated in RuPaul's Drag Race All stars in 2022. The following year, the drag queen was also among the candidates of Dancing on Ice, where she won third place. James Lee Williams had also participated in several musicals in the West End of London, notably “The Wicked”.

The Vivienne had chosen its name in homage to the British stylist Vivienne Westwood, who died in 2022 and nicknamed “the enfant terrible of fashion”.
