The prefect of Vendée, in view of the information transmitted by Météo-, triggers the meteorological alert level ORANGE level for the risk of violent winds.
The depression named Floriane will generate a brief but sudden strengthening of the wind in the first part of the day Monday January 6, 2025.
A sudden strengthening of southwest wind is expected in Vendée from late night from Sunday to Monday, then heading towards the basin at the end of the morning.
During the episode, wind gusts will reach 90 to 100 km/h, occasionally 110 km/h, across the whole of Vendée (coastal and inland).
The wind will then weaken significantly.
Aggravating factor: soils saturated with water following the rains of recent days make the vegetation more sensitive to the wind.
The mayors of the municipalities have been alerted of this situation to implement the usual precautions in order to ensure the information, protection and support of their population with regard to the announced risk, and will be able to activate their municipal protection plan ( PCS).
