“Our goal is to return to Paris”: Rural Coordination 64 ready to reach the capital

In a hurry to make itself heard, the CR does not wish to wait for the meeting planned in Matignon on January 13. The farmers have therefore decided to take to the streets of the capital this Monday.

“Our objective is to return to ” announced Benjamin Loste this Sunday, who is counting on around forty participants for the 64th, 65th and 32nd. “Processes are planned everywhere. We are waiting for instructions,” he slips.

“We are determined”

The demonstrators could reach the capital during the night from Sunday to Monday. But they know that they will have to be discreet to avoid the security cordons. Because the prefecture of Paris and that of Val-de- have banned undeclared gatherings from Sunday 6 p.m. to Monday noon.

“The government will have to listen to us! » warns the president of CR64 all the same. “We are determined to have answers and immediately. They can't leave us like this! » adds the one who, like “10% of farmers in 64” he specifies, is in recovery.

“In my village, there are nine farmers and three in recovery! Help is good but it doesn't solve the problems! We are not moving forward and there is a lot to do,” assures the man who speaks of “enormous unease” within the profession. He hopes that the new Prime Minister François Bayrou, “a man of the earth” he says, will be able to listen to them.

Cash flow and morale at half mast

“There are very serious cash flow problems and farmers who no longer have morale” adds Benjamin Loste, citing the example of the bovine tuberculosis crisis in the Basque Country. “We would rather kill 600 cows than 40 badgers! But how many farmers will commit suicide after these slaughters? »

“What we are asking is simple and it doesn’t cost a euro,” he assures. “We ask, for example, that we all be equal before European standards! We must stop controlling ourselves when imported products do not meet any standards! »
