The day after the rout of Amiens SC against Troyes, John Williams was in Bordeaux to attend the Girondins' late match against Locminé, again with a defeat on the line. Obviously very involved, the Amiens recruitment manager even intervened at the edge of the field at the end of the game. Explanations.
John Williams, the heart and the head in Bordeaux?
Visibly, John Williams is the type to get very involved when it comes to “volunteering”. With the blessing of Bernard Joannin, the former agent was supposed to help Bordeaux rebuild a squad after the club's demotion to National 2. Five months later, his mission accomplished, the person concerned is still very present with the Gironde club. Last Saturday, for example, the historic right-hand man of the president of Amiens SC was present at Matmut Atlantique to attend the Bordeaux – Locminé match.
Like a club manager, John Williams even watched the final minutes of the match at the side of the pitch, near the players' tunnel. At the final whistle, the person concerned then approached the match referee to ask him for accountability after the (highly contested) expulsions of Cédric Yambéré and Driss Tichard. The day before, he had not deigned to make the trip to Amiens to attend the match against Troyes. The consequences of a double hat which continues to raise eyebrows in Picardy.
Some shareholders are questioning the real level of involvement of John Williams in the Amiens project, he who attends more Girondins matches than those of the ASC. Already last summer, his management of the transfer window, with a very late arrival at Rue du Chapter, had moved some. Others even go so far as to give it a new nickname: the Bordelais. And we cannot say that John Williams does everything to prove his detractors wrong.
