By François Sauvadet, president of the Côte-d'Or Departmental Council.
“Dear Côte-d’Oriennes, Dear Côte-d’Oriens.
The period we are experiencing is difficult for many of you, marked by uncertainty, political and economic instability with job cuts announced on Christmas Eve such as in Valti Montbard and the concerns of farmers. I want to send you a message of solidarity. We will remain firmly present at your side to support you in the face of difficulties. Despite all the uncertainties, I did not want us to postpone the Department's budget despite the context we know. The Côte-d'Oriens expect us to specify the aid that we will provide them in 2025: to associations, to social actors, to our firefighters and to our mayors. We voted for a budget of €676 million in total, down €6 million. Down yes, because we have been impacted like all Departments by the drop in our resources and the increase in expenditure imposed by the State. We have a savings program of €10 million with a red line, not calling into question our territorial presence. We will provide each family, each Côte-d'Orien that needs it, with an individualized response to respond as closely and fairly as possible. I insist on this point. This is the new social pact that I proposed and which has just been voted on by the majority of the departmental assembly. And of course we will continue to invest, to prepare our department to face the major challenges: climate change, the energy transition, the digital transition with the arrival of artificial intelligence, without forgetting to invest on our roads and alongside municipalities.
Above all, I want to send you, at the start of this year, a message of confidence. Our country has already gone through difficult times. He always got away with it. It will come out of this as long as we believe in our collective future.
You can count on the Department, on our 2,700 agents whom I thank, to be at your side in every neighborhood and in every village.
I wish you a very happy new year 2025. Long live the Côte-d'Or and long live the departments of France.”
