The community of communes Cauvaldor reminds you that winter is the ideal time to clear and prepare your landbefore the return of sunny days and increased risk of fire.

Clear brush in winter

Clearing brush is the best protection against fire. Climatic conditions are more favorable for working efficiently in winter. In addition, this makes it possible to anticipate the fire season, which lengthens from year to year with climate change.

This makes it possible to ensure your safety and that of your property while preserving the environment. It is a proactive way of acting in the face of fire risks. The importance of getting involved from winter onwards guarantees security of your home and preserves the unique landscapes of Cauvaldor. “Our territory is made up of vast natural and forest areas in which an often dispersed habitat is located: it is an asset for its inhabitants, but it is also a vulnerability in the face of climate change, because it increases the risk of fire during prolonged periods of drought which will, as we know, be more intense and more frequent. This is why, as elected officials, we must remember that it is everyone's responsibility to implement the legal obligation of clearing in order to protect property and people, but also preserve nature from devastation. fire” recalls Dominique Malavergne, vice-president for ecology and sustainable development transition.

A legal obligation in risk areas

As a reminder, if land is located in an area classified as at risk of fire and less than 200 meters from woods, forests, moors, scrub or scrubland, the owners are concerned. We must clear brush within a radius of 50 meters around its buildings (range to 100 meters in certain specific cases).
