Camille Cottin: What is this disorder from which she suffers and which affects 3% of adults in France?

Camille Cottin had the right to a very beautiful portrait in “M”the magazine of Le Monde. Through the lines, we discover a more sensitive actress, more tormented by the events of the past. For example ? The actress spoke of the death of her father-in-law Gabriel, to whom she was very close, and the pain of facing such a loss. On the move to London with his blended family, our colleagues first said: “It’s a change of life. The money is flowing freely, the family is staying in a house in the chic neighborhood of Chelsea, Camille is attending the French high school, nannies are looking after the girls. These are the years of adolescence, of first loves, and often of confrontation with this fanciful and rebellious mother, but also very strict with her own children.. Then, it was at the age of 20, when she had just performed a play in front of five people, that Camille Cottin learned of the death of her stepfather. The magazine wrote that“she receives a phone call from her mother: his father-in-law died at work of a heart attack at age 38. An explosion. The next day, however, she returned to the stage.. “I still wonder how I could have done that.”she admitted.

Camille Cottin’s disorder explained

“Together, they loved the thrill of board sports, skiing, windsurfing, diving, too,” we could read. This tragic death broke the aspiring actress, so much so that she began psychoanalysis which ended twenty years later. “It was a difficult time for me, I was still under construction, I didn’t really know what I was going to do with my existence”confided Camille Cottin. The latter also spoke about the attention disorder from which she suffers “for a long time” and that she has “recently” discovered. “I have always had difficulty prioritizing problems and requests. All concerns come to me with the same level of intensity“, she declared. According to the French health insurance website, “Attention Deficit Disorder with or without hyperactivity (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder, characterized by the association of three symptoms whose intensity and manifestation vary according to each person: attention deficit, motor hyperactivity and impulsivity”. ADHD affects 5% of people under 18 and 3% of adults. ADHD present in children persists into adolescence and adulthood.

A disorder that affects girls less?

Still according to the specialized site, “We can only speak of ADHD if the symptoms appear during childhood, before the age of 12; present a persistent nature (more than 6 months) and have an impact on school learning, social relationships and quality of life and constitute a real handicap for the child. Also, we learn that ADHD seems twice as common in boys and “probably underestimated in girls, for whom symptoms are less visible.” “Girls, less hyperactive, tend to have attention problems, which are more difficult to spot,” we were able to read in particular.
