Be careful on the roads. This Saturday, January 4, 2025, Île-de- will be affected by an episode of snow and freezing rain. All Ile-de-France departments are placed on orange alert by Météo-France. As a result, the Paris police headquarters decided to activate the level 2 of the snow and ice plan in the region.

Freezing rain expected late evening

This increase to the enhanced monitoring level has consequences for motorists. The maximum authorized speed will be lowered by 20 km/h from 5 p.m. All Ile-de-France roads will be affected by this measure, with the exception of the ring road. It should end at midnightthanks to the forecasted mild weather.

Several Ile-de-France prefectures have called on citizens to “ limit travel and favor public transport” during the passage of this disturbance, like Seine-Saint-Denis. In this department, the alert will be effective at 6 p.m.as indicated by the meteorological agency, Météo-France, in a bulletin.

Precipitation is expected to arrive from the southwest late in the afternoon. Light snowfall will fall to the west of Île-de-France, before turning into freezing rain to the east of the disturbed area. On the reliefs, the heights could reach a centimeter. Météo-France warns that a “temporary icy episode” is envisaged “at a later date”, at dawn.

Sunday January 5, 2025, temperatures will be significantly higher, including11 degrees in the capital. Precipitation will continue, but in the form of rain.
