Parfum de Jazz (Drôme): the 2025 edition is taking shape
From the end of July to August 16, the 26th edition will spread between Tricastin and Baronnies: main stops, Donzère, Pierrelatte, Mollans and Buis-les-Baronnies. For programming, see you in March. For the first “cinema” evening, it will be January 21 at Reg'Art in Buis. Above all, the festival has decided to bring forward its dates to July in Tricastin, a more favorable period for attracting the public.
Even if it will only start in the second half of July, the next edition of Parfum de Jazz is not far from being completed. At least for dates and locations.
This 26th edition will start like the previous ones in Tricastin but, unlike past years, the main concerts, planned in Donzère and Pierrelatte, will be concentrated between July 21 and 26 and will therefore be brought forward compared to past years.
For the Baronnies, nothing has changed: this second part of the festival will be held on the same dates as previously, around August 15, at least for the concerts planned at the Mollans and Buis theaters, the Jazz au Village dates being , currently being finalized.
In terms of programming, the only certainty: the arrival at Pierrrelatte on July 23 of Justina Lee Brown who recently released the album « Lost Child », which will serve as a common thread for the concert in this unique setting that is the Pierrelatte green theater.
From January 21, cinema evening in Buis-les-Baronnies
For the rest, the Parfum de Jazz team, now chaired by Catherine Rivalta, remains fairly discreet. Firstly because she is currently concerned with occupying the field, being present during these slow months when festivals are on break. Thus, to counter this vacancy, Parfum de Jazz, as we remember, has, on November 15, scheduled a first concert, that of Victoria Alexanyan in quartet.
The concert, performed in Buis-les-Baronnies, the original stronghold of the festival, helped in a way to launch the new season. Then, before the general meeting of the association (March 4), Parfum de Jazz invests in another area: a collaboration with a 4th grade class from Buis college. The object? Carry out a musical project with a group made up of a “rapper” and a jazz trio. The objective? Be ready for the Music Festival in Buis where the group will perform on June 21.
Note also, during the April school holidays, two shows for young audiences have already been put on.
But, without further ado, on January 21, the festival will meet at Reg'Art in Buis, of which it is a partner, for a cinema evening. Organized with “Les Amis du Cinéma de Buis” chaired by Martine Chambon, it first plans a documentary at 6 p.m., Let’s get Lost, around Chet Baker and at 8 p.m., the broadcast of La La Land, a musical film by Damien Chazelle, released in 2016. The evening will include meals and tastings.
The presentations of the 26th edition : March 20 and 27
Another unmissable event : the public presentations of the 26th edition by Catherine Rivalta and her team: they will take place on March 20 at La Palun in Buis-les-Baronnies and on March 27 at the Pierrelatte village hall.
The only confidences published in the December newsletter are that a “evening dedicated to the blues”, a concert which will associate “a scenography and image projections” and, understand who wants, “jazz evenings open to music from other cultures”. Does this mean that evenings could host non-jazz opening acts? Or that jazz could blend into other music, from rap to pop and everything that falls under the convenient banner of “world music”?
Patience and see you on March 20 in Buis-les-Baronnies.
