Described by some motorists as “money pumps” and a road safety tool for others, radars are very numerous on our roads. France counts 3 268 radars on just over a million kilometers of roads. In Morbihan, the radar coverage is quite large.
Several types of radars
The typology of radars is quite varied in the Morbihan department: from section radar of the national road 24 near Ploërmel, discriminating fixed radars (capable of differentiating between types of vehicles (heavy goods vehicles, cars) and applying different speed thresholds depending on the category) on national road 165, passing through two traffic light radar including one between Vannes and Séné or the first generation of radar in a bend on the Lorient expressway.
In all, there is 29 automatic radars.

These automatic radars are installed at various locations to monitor and control vehicle speed, as well as compliance with traffic lights.

New radars in France soon?
Phone held in hand, failure to wear a seat belt or even failure to maintain a safety distance, three new offenses may soon be detected. The measure has not yet come into force. It must still be discussed by parliamentarians, who want the subject to be on the agenda in 2025.
Attention, lThe offenses are cumulative : you may be sanctioned for all these offenses by the same speed camera. Each of them will give rise to a fine of 135 euros and deduction of three pointson the driving license.
For the moment, no radar of this type has been announced in Morbihan. It won't be long before the government accelerates these new radars.
