Animal lover, Carole Fauvel created a traveling educational farm in Coimères (Gironde): “Roule ma Poule”. For eight years now, she has been traveling the roads of Gironde, accompanied by her animal sidekicks.

After several years spent in the Center of , the Girondine returned to settle in her hometown of Martignas-sur-Jalle and created a traveling educational farm.

I saw a traveling farm on “30 million friends”. I said to myself: this is what I want to do!

“Before setting up my structure, I was already working in the agricultural sector, for an educational farm in the center of France,” says Carole Fauvel. Then 8 years ago, I came back to settle in my hometown in Martignas, I had to find a reasonable job. I then thought and remembered having seen about twenty years ago, on 30 million friends a traveling farm. That's when the idea popped into my head and I said to myself: this is what I want to do! »

The latter then talks about it with her Pôle emploi advisor who follows her on the project. It was then that in one month the project of this animal lover took shape and the Roule ma Poule concept was born!

Feathered and furry

During the April 2016 holidays, Carole began her first activities in a leisure center and nursery accompanied by her pony and some small animalsx. Little by little, the activities of the Roule ma Poule traveling farm are establishing themselves in the landscape of Métropole and the Basin.

Also in retirement home

Carole not only offers outdoor activities for families, she also travels to nursing homes to provide animal-assisted entertainment. “One day, an EHPAD contacted me to come and do an event for their residents, it was very beneficial for the residents, but also a great discovery for me,” confides the latter. Seeing the good that this does for residents, certain structures will come to the Roule ma Poule farm on a regular basis. In a retirement home, creating special moments with animals helps stimulate the elderly, remind them of memories, it brings a real moment of well-being “we create a bond with the residents, we sometimes meet their family, these moments are beneficial for everyone,” explains Carole.

For five years now, the traveling farm has participated in “Rendezvous with the farm” organized by the city of . Every two months, the farmer, accompanied by her numerous feathered and furry animals, sets up shop in the city's parks, allowing young and old Talençais alike to come and meet the animals during this regular meeting.

My job allows me to create connections with people.

For 4 years now, Carole, her family and her animals have settled in South-Gironde in Coimères, however no public is welcomed on site since it is the place where the small family and the animals live.

Carole the farmer and the animals from the Roule ma Poule farm set up shop at event sites in Gironde and Lot-et-Garonne to offer sustainable, zero-waste entertainment with the aim of respecting everyone and the animals.

Feeding the chickens by hand

Roule ma Poule was, for example, in local entertainment on September 21, 2024, during the local festival of Auros. The lucky ones were able to feed the chickens by hand or give carrot sticks to the rabbits. The animals are in secure enclosures with free access so that everyone can discover them at their own pace.

During events, there is always a shelter area for animals, which allows them to come and meet the public to be petted or to go and rest. We can observe them, feed them, raise awareness and discover the world of animals.

“My job allows me to create links with people, for children the activities allow them to create memories with animals and for older children it reminds them of memories or anecdotes that they had with animals”, indicates the farmer.

Paillette the pony

Carole travels the roads with her small troop made up of Paillette the pony, Trottinette the donkey, Ouessant sheep, dwarf and angora goats, rabbits, guinea pigs, ornamental chickens, dwarf and red, ducks . Depending on the births, the young animals accompany their parents during the activities. Carole also offers, on request, creative sensory arts workshops using materials found on the farm.
