Toys “R” Us Canada announces the closure of five toy stores in Ontario and the renovation of several others as part of its efforts to “optimize” its operations.

Toy retailer says closures target store in mall Argyle has London as well as its stores on avenue Steeles West to Thornhillon Hurontario Street in Mississauga, in the parkway Marcus in Sudbury and on Centennial Parkway north to Stoney Creek.

The company did not respond to questions about how many jobs will be lost due to these closures.

In addition to closing certain stores, the brand indicates that it rationalise also its stocks to make room for other concepts in its stores.

In some locations, entertainment retailer HMV, which began appearing in the toy store last year and is also run by Putman Investmentsowner of Toys “R” Uswill have an expanded and autonomous space.

Other stores will be redeveloped to accommodate a Wonderlaba concept that Toys “R” Us Canada tests at BurlingtonOntario, and includes an indoor play structure and space for arts, crafts and sensory activities.
