Some 4,278 households benefited from the resettlement and rehousing program for residents of the “Rbieb” and “El Gouiez” slum neighborhoods in the province of Es-Semara.
This program aims to improve the urban landscape, facilitate access to local services and declare Es-Semara a city without slums, mobilizing an overall budget of 532 million dirhams (MDH).
During a field visit, the wali of the Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra region, Abdeslam Bekrate, accompanied by the governor of the province of Es-Semara, Brahim Boutoumilate, and elected officials, followed the progress of the project.
This program provides for the demolition of 3,724 unsanitary dwellings over an area of 317,778 m² and the development of a new subdivision of 1,089 lots of land for an investment of more than 260 million dirhams.
Supported by a multi-party agreement, the project mobilizes several key players, including the General Directorate of Local Authorities, the Ministry of Regional Planning, and the Agency for the Promotion and Economic and Social Development of the Southern Provinces.
Dedicated committees have been formed to ensure rigorous monitoring of the project, ensure the quality of the infrastructure and guarantee compliance with set delivery deadlines.
