Route 138 is closed in both directions east of Sept-Îles, in the Monaghan Beach area, due to a major road accident that occurred Friday morning.

According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), a head-on collision occurred between two vehicles at kilometer 1004. The event caused several injuries. We fear for a person’s life.

The accident happened around 6:50 a.m.

The spokesperson for the SQHugues Beaulieu, indicates that route 138 is closed for an indefinite period.

According to the Ministry of Transport, the roadway on Route 138 is snow-covered between Baie-Comeau and Magpie. Snow showers are expected all day across much of the North Shore.
