Bikers finally have a reprieve in Isère. In experimentation since August 2, 2021, inter-line circulation of two wheels was initially supposed to end as of January 1, 2025. In the end, this is not the case, at least for the moment.
6 more months to travel in inter-lines
As announced in the Official Journal on December 31, the State has indeed decided to continue this experiment for a few more months.
Two-wheel riders from the 21 departments concerned, including Isère, will be able to continue to move up the queue until July 31. Until this date, motorcyclists will not be under threat of a fine (withdrawal of three points and a fine of 135 euros).
Towards new regulations?
The end of this experiment does not, however, necessarily mean the total cessation of inter-lane traffic in France, with Road Safety having to provide a complete assessment of this trial in the first months of 2025. Perhaps, quite simply, a new regulation in sight?
As a reminder, inter-lane traffic is only authorized on two-carriageway roads separated by a central reservation and with at least two lanes each, where the maximum authorized speed is greater than or equal to 70 km/h.
