A 25-year-old man, an influencer of Algerian nationality, was arrested at his home on Friday January 3 morning in Brest, franceinfo learned from a police source. He is accused of having incited, in a video published on social networks, to commit attacks in France against opponents of the Algerian regime. The police were alerted on December 31 thanks to a report on the Pharos platform.
The suspect is in police custody at the Brest police station, interviewed by judicial police investigators. He is accused of public apology and direct provocation of acts of terrorism. This man is known to the police, without further details at this stage.
Contacted by France Bleu Breizh Izel, the national anti-terrorism prosecutor's office (Pnat) says it is analyzing the situation, before possibly taking up the investigation. In a message on the social network X, the Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau indicated that “the Algerian influencer 'Zazouyoussef' who called on his community to commit attacks in France will have to answer for his actions before the courts”.
The minister adds “that he was arrested this morning in Brest”. “Thank you to the magistrates and the police who allowed this arrest. Don’t let anything slip through”he continues.
