After the ice and the cold, here is a violent gust of wind which will affect the Rhône from this Sunday, January 5, 2025. Météo has placed two departments on orange alert for violent winds, including the Rhône.

Violent winds exceeding 70 km/h are forecast for this Sunday and Monday in Lyon and the Rhône.

An acceleration of the wind from Sunday evening

Météo France explained that it had triggered vigilance for the departments of Rhône and for the strong wind in the south of these departments next night from Sunday to Monday and midday on Monday.

An “acceleration of the southerly wind is expected from Sunday evening to Monday at the beginning of the afternoon, ahead of an Atlantic disturbance which crosses the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region on Monday between the afternoon and the evening, evacuating to the east of the country during the night from Monday to Tuesday.

The large parks of Lyon closed

The southerly wind is already in place on Sunday morning, with still moderate gusts of around 50 to 60km/h, occasionally 70km/h (yellow alert in progress).
