Snow in several regions of the Atlantic Sunday and Monday

Environment Canada issued several weather alerts Saturday warning that heavy snow accumulations are expected starting Sunday in Cape Breton, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland.

In the northern part of Nova Scotia and in parts of Cape Breton, the federal agency is forecasting snow accumulations of up to 5 to 15 cm between Sunday and Monday. Gusts of 70 to 90 km/h are also expected.

In western Cape Breton, in Inverness County, north of Mabou, and in Victoria County, gusts of 80 to 100 km/h and 20 to 30 cm of snow are expected. . However, accumulations could reach up to 60 cm in the highlands.

Snow in eastern Prince Edward Island

In Kings and Queens Counties, Prince Edward Islanders should expect snow accumulations of 5 to 15 cm. For their part, winds will reach 70 to 90 km/h.

Wind warnings were issued for the south, center and north of the province with gusts reaching 120 km/h in some areas.
