Two departments are placed on orange alert for wind from this Sunday January 5 at 8 p.m. by Météo-France. These are the Loire and the Rhône.
An “episode of strong wind” is expected “particularly in the Rhône valley”, indicates the weather forecast institute.
Orange vigilance is valid from this Sunday evening until Monday at 4 p.m.

“With the approach of a disturbance on the Atlantic coasts, the wind will strengthen over the country during the day on Sunday,” warns Météo-France.
“The southerly wind will become particularly strong from Sunday evening to early Monday afternoon in the Rhônes-Alpes region, particularly in the south of departments 42 (Loire Editor’s note) and 69 (Rhône Editor’s note),” warns the 'institute.
“Strong winds will be expected on the Poitou/Moselle axis during the day,” he notes. Locally, peaks of 110-120 km/h are expected “in the middle of the night from Sunday to Monday” and then “late morning-midday on Monday”.
Météo-France ended this Sunday morning the orange snow-ice vigilance which was activated in many departments. The episode left at least one person dead, a 20-year-old young man killed in an accident on the A6 in Burgundy.
