The Réunion Region purchases 72 new buses for the Car Jaune network

Renewal of part of the intercity bus fleet

January 2

In a context of predominance of private cars, the attractiveness and performance of public transport networks constitute a major objective to achieve. Beyond the implementation of the free Yellow Car which is now a reality for many people, the Réunion Region is leading a particularly proactive policy on the subject with the ambition of offering the Réunion Islanders collective transport on its own and with a high level of service which improves accessibility, comfort and safety for travelers and drivers, and helps to reduce travel times.

It is in this spirit that the renewal of the Car Jaune network fleet decided by the Réunion Region is fully in line.

The regional authority thus acquired 72 CROSSWAY Low Entry vehicles, via UGAP, the public purchasing center, from the manufacturer Iveco Bus (63 units in the 49-seater version and 9 units in the 45-seater version).

They were built in the Czech Republic.

The first vehicles arrived on the island at the end of 2024. Their complete delivery will be staggered until February 2025. These new coaches will make it possible to renew part of the existing fleet, while increasing the transport offer to better meet the expectations of Islanders and the imperatives of sustainable mobility.
