Visiting a press conference this Friday, two days before the reception of FC Nantes, Bruno Genesio complimented his group and its values at length.
Since August, LOSC and its representatives have been in the oven and at the mill, forced to “switch” between the different competitions in which they are engaged: in particular from Ligue 1 McDonald's to the Champions League. The winter break was therefore a great opportunity to finally rest.
“We found the group as we left it, that is to say dynamic, ambitious, hard at work and always with this spirit of good atmosphere geared towards competition. There is a lot of discussion in training, about the winners and those who lost, I like that. It’s a marker of the good atmosphere that reigns in the squad, but also of the competitive spirit that reigns there”explained Bruno Genesio this Friday, happy to see his men again.
A strong group
A few weeks ago, LOSC obtained a point from its trip to Marseille (1-1) with a performance that everyone noticed, despite some bullying on the refereeing body. At the end, Bruno Genesio admitted to having been impressed by his men, without really knowing how to explain it. The necessary perspective was taken and the technician now knew how to cite three essential points which make what Mastiffs are:
- Quality: “We can only do what we want to do if we have the quality that meets our expectations. »
- The work: “The quality of the work and the investment and commitment that is put into our training and matches every day. »
- The atmosphere: “which reigns within the group. I'm talking about the players, but also the staff and all the people around the team. This is something very important to me and I think it is a fundamental point in our success since the start of the season. »
He then concluded a true declaration of love: “There's a lot of concentration and attention, but that's the case for the whole group and that's what I really like about this group.
There is both this concentration, this seriousness, but also this good-natured side, and it is quite rare, where almost the whole group participates. I don't see any affinity, clan, or group in the group.” congratulated Bruno Genesio at a press conference.
People at the center of everything
Finally, the LOSC squad resembles its coach, whose qualities are praised across France: “People are essential in our business. I say it often, but the first quality of a manager is empathy. We only have eleven players starting out, but a group of 25 players to manage.
If you are not able to consider everyone… We can sometimes forget things, but I try to be as fair as possible and consider everyone, including those who don't play. This can be through simple dialogues. This is essential because we are all human beings. We are judged on our results or our performances, but people are very important to achieve these two areas”insists the Lille technician.
“It’s also my way of being and my character, which I don’t want to changesays the LOSC coach. This does not prevent me from having authority, which does not exist only in yelling or hitting one or another, but it is also in the choices we make, in the ideas of game we have. Our players are specialists and we cannot tell them nonsense or lie to them. We observe them daily, but so do they. Authority also comes from what we propose and what we put in place, even if we sometimes raise our voice or sanction when it is necessary to do so.concludes Bruno Genesio, who did not hesitate to take action during the reception of Paris Saint-Germain on September 1.
