The first baby of the year 2025 in Senegal is a little girl, born at exactly midnight on January 1, at the Thiaroye-sur-Mer health post. This New Year’s miracle is the seventh child of Ndèye Anta Kama, a 32-year-old mother.

To mark this exceptional event, several personalities came to congratulate the happy parents and celebrate the birth of this “baby of equity”. Among them, Ms. Maimouna Dièye, Minister of Family and Solidarity, accompanied by the Minister of Health, Dr Ibrahima Sy, and Pape Alé Niang, Director General of RTS.
The little girl was showered with gifts: milk, diapers, clothes, cosmetics, and much more. As support for the child’s future, a savings account was opened in his name, intended to finance his studies. In addition, parent empowerment projects have also been announced.

Beyond the emotion, this symbolic birth is also an opportunity to strengthen the country’s health infrastructure. The Minister of Health recalled the importance of improving maternity, pediatric and neonatology services across Senegal.
As for Ms. Maimouna Dièye, godmother of the child, she sees in this birth a promise of a better future: “With a girl first, 2025 will be a year of peace and prosperity. » A message of hope to start this new year.
