The Franche-Comté Movement communicates:
« While the University of Franche-Comté celebrated last year, with drums and trumpets, its 600 years of existence, which makes it one of the oldest in France, and while it has recently been rewarded several times for its performances, its board of directors has just decided to rename it from January 1st “Marie and Louis Pasteur University” (our info “The University of Franche-Comté will change its name: Marie and Louis Pasteur University”). New name which we don't really see how it could help it resolve the financial difficulties it unfortunately faces today, like all other French universities…
It is therefore “mad with rage” that the Franche-Comté Movement learned of this scandalous decision in that it demonstrates total contempt for Franche-Comté and its historical, geographical and cultural identity, while constituting an additional humiliation in relation to Burgundy which will keep its “University of Burgundy”.
But what could have possibly stung its board of directors insofar as all the other French universities are called by the name of the regions or cities to which they belong, none of them considering changing their name?
Therefore, the Franche-Comté Movement calls on the board of directors of the University of Franche-Comté to reverse its decision as quickly as possible, which insults Franche-Comté, to which it belongs, while pushing it down a little further. more in its downgrading compared to other French regions« .
