Nièvre gendarmerie group, Nevers police station, departmental fire and rescue service, emergency services at the Pierre-Bérégovoy hospital center: the prefect of Nièvre, Fabienne Decottignies visited, in the early evening of December 31, to state agents responsible for ensuring safety and health during New Year's Eve.
On this occasion, the prefect, recently appointed to the department, provided elements of comparison on state action in the urban and rural departments.
The Nièvre department is rather peaceful. Do you see an overall absence of security issues here?
Security is a theme that is found as much in rural areas as in urban areas. I come from the Nord department, I was sub-prefect of a district with 1.2 million inhabitants. Compared to Nièvre and its two hundred thousand inhabitants, the proportions are different.
But that does not mean that the subjects affecting the citizens of Nivernais are less important. We pay the same attention to these issues.
