Did the Jura dream of being so high on the poster? While Twenty gods the film by Louise Courvoisier, makes a great start, a new Jura work will share the big screen of French cinema. And bear in the Jura by Franck Dubosc, makes its debut at the box office this Wednesday 1is January.

A snowy thriller

After Everyone standing (2018) et Rumba (2022), Franck Dubosc signs with A bear in the Jura – a snowy thriller, in the spirit Fargo – his third film. The plot? A couple who no longer speak to each other, plagued by financial problems. A bear (are there any in the Jura?) crossing the road, a bad maneuver, a car hit, two collateral victims. And above all, in their safe, two million euros in small denominations. So, what to do? Confess everything to investigators, or keep this “reasonably enormous” sum?

“I only knew the Jura through photos”

It was “based on a false story”, as he says, that the comedian and actor imagined the scenario. And for the thriller atmosphere, was there a better place than the upper Jura? “I wanted to make a film that takes place in a beautiful region of . I didn't know [le Jura] than by the photos. And I found here, within reach, all these beautiful natural settings that we use more and more in cinema today. »

From -d'Amont to Hyper U de Champagnole

At the start of 2024, the excitement reaches the upper Jura region. January 12 and 13, in Bois d'Amont, there is a rush at the extra casting gate: everyone hopes to see their good looks on screen. In February and March, the illustrious actor of Camping put on your down jacket and set up your cameras at Les Rousses, at the Billaude waterfall, and even at the Hyper U in Champagnole.

Jura residents, traders, children, parents, observe the filming of the feature film, which takes place in their homes. “It doesn't happen every day that our store is used as the setting for a film. It’s rewarding and it’s an experience to live,” rejoiced Élodie, manager of Maison Laurent.

A snowflake in mechanics

All the Jura mountains are aligned, but a grain of sand stops the machine. Or rather a snowflake. In February – and still today – a man accuses the film crews of having polluted Billaude with polystyrene, in order to reproduce artificial snow. The production belies: according to it, it is cellulose paper, biodegradable and subject to prior authorization for use.

“I only met enthusiastic people”

The damage is done for some. For others, the controversy is trivial: in passing the bear in the Jura the Jura residents will remember the words and smiles exchanged with the teams and actors of the film: Laure Calamy, Benoit Poelvoorde, Kim Higelin…

The 61-year-old director, too, will remember his visit: “I only met enthusiastic people. People watched the filming in silence and with the greatest respect. It's increasingly rare these days. For us, it was a real treat to find so much kindness and benevolence. »
