An elbow to the face in LPHF is no. Striker Catherine Dubois paid the price for this lesson with a one-match suspension, announced Friday afternoon.

The Montreal Victory player dealt an illegal blow to the head of Megan Keller, of the Boston Fleet, on December 30. The Quebecer received a major penalty and a game misconduct. La Victoire still won 3-1, at Place Bell.

Review by the LPHF Player Safety Committee was automatic. The organization stated that Dubois delivered “a blow with force and significant speed in the opposite direction” and that the “head was the primary point of contact, although such contact was avoidable.”

Dubois is in his second season with Montreal. Last year, she started the season as a reserve, before securing her first professional contract as the campaign progressed.

In 2025, she started the season with an agreement already in hand. The forward plays on Kori Cheverie’s fourth line, alongside Clair DeGeorge and Claire Dalton.

In 26 total games, she scored two goals and four assists, and earned 29 penalty minutes.

These same two teams will face each other again on January 5, at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, as part of a series of matches in markets that the LPHF could be tempted to conquer.
