The funeral of little Émile, who disappeared in July 2023 and whose bones were discovered last March near the hamlet of Haut-Vernet (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence), will take place on February 8 in Saint-Maximin-la -Sainte-Baume, in the Var. This is what the town hall tells France Bleu Provence, confirming information from BFM DICI. The town hall of Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume specifies that the funeral will be held on the morning of Saturday, February 8 in the Sainte-Marie-Madeleine basilica.
Émile's family comes from La Bouilladisse, in Bouches-du-Rhône. The town hall indicates that security measures will be taken in anticipation of the large crowd expected at the boy's funeral. The basilica occupies a special place in the Catholic religion, as “third tomb of Christianity”.
Émile disappeared on July 8, 2023, when he had just arrived for the summer vacation with his maternal grandparents, in their second home in the hamlet of Haut-Vernet, attached to the village of Vernet, at 1,200 meters altitude. Last March, bones were discovered by a walker, before investigators in turn found the boy's clothes.
