It has now been some time since I, in a way, specialized in the field of agriculture within the departmental service of Public good. A mission which consists of treating different subjects linked to this theme such as the Agricultural Show which I have covered over the last three years.
When, at the beginning of 2024, farmers decided to stand out to express their anger, I was, of course, called upon. But I wasn't the only one.
Their actions, varied and numerous, mobilized a large part of the journalists of the Public good in Dijon as well as throughout the Côte-d'Or territory. This subject is complex but it is not new. For a year now, we have relayed a speech that we had already highlighted in previous articles. But farmers, tired of feeling like they are not being heard, have chosen to step up. And their power to cause harm is significant. Road blocking, tractors wandering, dumping of tires, bales of straw and manure. Their means of action are important.
It is also useful to point out that we often speak of “farmers”. Except that there are “several kinds of farmers”. By this I mean that from one to another, from one farm to another, the demands and difficulties are different. There are four main agricultural unions: Young Farmers, the Departmental Federation of Farmers' Unions, Rural Coordination and the Peasant Confederation. Each of these unions has a different vision of agriculture. We therefore tried to relay everyone's positions, without favoring some more than others.
