But there are also “parcel distributors” at bpost (and other distributors like Mondial Relay). A sort of row of school lockers, of different sizes, placed at strategic points (station, supermarket, etc.) where your package can be dropped off by bpost and waiting for you at your convenience. A QR Code to scan, or a code to enter, and the right locker opens to deliver your package, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Practical, and 20 points are distributed across the Charleroi and Châtelet districts
In a press release, bpost boasts of having installed 40% more parcel distributors in 2024, to reach nearly 1,300 points throughout Belgium. And by 2025, this number should double to around 2,500 “parcel delivery” points.
- In Charleroi, the service is offered in several locations in the area, to get as close as possible to all the neighborhoods, while being relatively well accessible (not in small streets or places where it is impossible to park or arriving by bus, for example).
- Thus, in the city center, a distributor is accessible at Rive Gauche. Near the R9 exit from Montignies-sur-Sambre, there is also a point on rue Brigade Piron near the city of Yernaux.
- To the south, there is a distributor on three main arteries: Paul Pastur in Mont-sur-Marchienne (at Intermarché) and further at the Carrefour hypermarket at M de Bomerée, avenue Mascaux in Marcinelle (at Lidl) , on the N5 in Couillet (at Lidl and the Bellefleur shopping center)
- To the west, Marchienne station also offers a distributor. To the west, two are available near the route de la Basse-Sambre (Gilly Gazomètre and at Carrefour Market).
- To the north, the Intermarché of Ransart, near the airport, the Match (Comarché) of Jumet or even at the bpost point in the center of Gosselies rue du Calvaire.
Along the R3, in Châtelineau, two distributors are also installed in Cora and opposite, at Frunpark. Châtelet itself is also rather well served, with an ATM at the Lidl in Bouffioulx (towards Gerpinnes), another at the Intermarché on the ring road (towards Mettet), a third at Châtelet station (city centre), another at near Campinaire (towards Pont-de-Loup) and finally a last one in the city center of Châtelineau, at the Intermarché rue Jules des Essarts.
Ecological? This is what bpost says
Bonus: bpost assures that delivery to distributors is more ecological (30% if you go by car, 90% if you go on foot/bike/scooter), but this information has not been verified and seems quite contradictory with the fact that a lot of packages following online purchases come from very far away.
