“Well, I think they wanted to put us in the tough straight this year in the Africa Eco Race”
“Well, I think they wanted to put us in the tough straight this year on the Africa Eco Race. Got up at 4 a.m. to do customs formalities when leaving the boat and then well, I waited for my departure time until 8:37 a.m. to 178 km of connection on the highway where it was about -10°C… No, frankly not quite, but it was super cold. Very complicated to know how to dress because in fact, today, the assistance is a little jostled. The guys couldn’t be both at the start of the special, where I could have left warm clothes, and at the finish of the specials where I could have picked them up. So, we had to manage by putting down jackets, k-ways in the back pocket of the enduro jacket and then trying to warm our hands a little bit as best we could.”
The Enduro du Touquet on 47 terminals
“47 km special and in fact, instead of leaving at 11:15 a.m., she left at 12:20 p.m. because the helicopter wasn’t there. We were more than an hour late, but you’ll see, it’s going to be very important for the future because honestly, it was the enduro of Le Touquet, the special for 47 kilometers. Frankly, the sand was turned over moreyou know me, I couldn’t help but take pictures and a drone shot for you. Result, I got caught up by the cars, by all the motorcycles and by the trucks who completely turned the track upside down. So there you have it, don’t look too hard at the results of the special, it took me two hours to do it. Not too much because I struggled, but mainly because I took the time to make images, even if once I still got stuck in sand up to my hoof. So really, they put us in a tough spot!”
“After that, we left the special, it was 2:30 p.m. and there were 538 km to go. A short 200 km by highway and everything else, I don’t know if you know, we went up to Azrou. There, I know well, there is a small pass with all the monkeys, macaquesand I knew what awaited us beyond that: high plateaus that were snow-covered. We peeled each other until we descend into the Ziz valley, 60 km before Errachidia. Night fell and it was hard to hold on. To tell you, there it is 12:49 a.m.I only just had time to go to the physiotherapist and solve the two three small problems that I have on the motorcycle. I don’t have backlighting on my roadbook, so the mechanics made some modifications and I have a very small problem with the gearbox selection linkage, but otherwise everything works great.
Besides, amazing thing with the tanks, the autonomy is incredible. I did 420 km using only the front tanks. So here it is, up at 4 a.m., in bed at 10 to 1… I wish you a happy new year and I will try to keep you informed for the rest.”
