Vincent Mannaert is preparing for a busy start to 2025 as sporting director of the URBSFA. Among his priorities, he will have to decide on the future of coach Domenico Tedesco and consider a possible successor. Another crucial file is also on his desk: that of Kos Karetsas.
Kos Karetsas, a 17-year-old gem
At just 17 years old, Kos Karetsas is considered one of the greatest talents in Belgian football. In recent seasons, he has regularly demonstrated his immense potential with Jong Genk. This year, he has also established himself within the first team of KRC Genk, where he continues to impress.
A brilliant performance against Anderlecht
The young striker and playmaker, endowed with great technical mastery, once again shone last weekend. Aligned from the start by coach Thorsten Fink during the clash against his former club Anderlecht, Karetsas fully met expectations. He capped his performance by scoring his very first goal with the Genk A team.
Belgium or Greece?
If Karetsas can stay focused and healthy, he looks set for an exceptional career. The Belgian national team could also benefit from his talent. Although he has always played with the Belgian youth teams, Karetsas remains eligible to represent Greece.
The Greek federation is actively trying to convince him. Faced with this situation, the URBSFA finally reacted. It was revealed this week that Vincent Mannaert recently contacted the young prodigy’s entourage. A meeting should take place soon to discuss his future with the Red Devils.
