Mars

March 15: : US Avranches – Girondins de

The passage of the Girondins from Bordeaux to Avranches is unprecedented. Before 2024, this confrontation had never taken place in the history of French football in an official match. But with the demotion to National 2 of the legendary Ligue 1 club, six times French champion, the two teams find themselves in the same group, with the ambition of a podium, or even a climb. At mid-season, US Avranches and Bordeaux are hot on their heels, in 5th and 4th place respectively, tied on points. At the end, the Manchois lost in with a score of 1-0. This historic match will therefore have an exciting sporting challenge, at the René-Fenouillère stadium, on March 15 at 6 p.m.

It celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2025. The Tour de la Manche returns from May 22 to 25. And it gives pride of place to the roads of the South Channel, with a big 165 km start between Sartilly-Baie-Bocage and Isigny-le-Buat (May 22), or the finish of the 4th stage on the heights of Sourdeval ( May 24). Only the stage on May 23 does not cross the South Channel, with a time trial in Barneville-Carteret. The 5th and final stage will link Donville-les-Bains to Granville in a 152 km loop, on May 25.

May 29: Horse riding: Jullouville horse races

The date of the traditional horse races at the Jullouville marine racecourse has been announced for 2025. The event will take place on Ascension Thursday, May 29. July

July 10: Cycling: Tour de France 2025

Nine years after its last passage, and a big departure from Mont Saint-Michel, the Tour de France makes its big return to the South Channel, on July 10, 2025. On the occasion of the 6th stage between Bayeux and Vire, the Grande Loop will notably pass through Mortainais. If the exact route is not yet known, the municipalities of Juvigny-le-Tertre, Saint-Pois, Barenton or Chérencé-le-Roussel should welcome the peloton. The passage to Mortain will be particularly scrutinized, with the climb of hill 314, listed in the mountain classification, for the polka dot jersey. With its 3,500 meters of altitude difference, this route was described as “the most challenging flat stage in the recent history of the Tour” by Christian Prudhomme, race director. A test that promises surprises.

July: Swimming: Swimming around the Roc

Nearly 200 swimmers of various nationalities gathered on July 13 and 14 for the 60th edition of the Tour du Roc swimming in Granville. If the official date of the event will not be announced until January, the organization of the next edition is indeed planned. The 500 meter, 1 km, 4 km courses and of course the main event of the 5 km should make their return for this open water competition which takes place in summer. This race counts as part of the French Open Water Swimming Cup.

August

August 17: Cycling: La Polynormande

This one-day race, featured on the UCI Europe Tour calendar, welcomes big names in international cycling to the South Channel every year. Professional runners such as Benoît Cosnefroy, Valentin Madouas and Arnaud de Lie have recently won the race. The 2025 edition, 45th of the name, will take place on August 17, 2025. The big question: who will succeed Paul Lapeira, winner of the 2024 edition on his land during this race? If the route has not yet been revealed, it already promises to be exciting. What if the Manchois, also champion of France in the South Channel last June, achieved the double? Until now, this feat has never been achieved at Polynormande.

October

October 11-12: Triathlon: Bayman Triathlon

3 km of swimming, 180 km of cycling and 42 km of running at 8 a.m., anyone? It is this crazy challenge that the 2,000 participants of the Bayman triathlon come to achieve each year. Of course, for less experienced people, this XXL triathlon is available in an “L” version (2 km swim, 90 km bike ride, 21 km run) and “M” version (1.5 km swim, 40 km run). bike, 10 km run).
