Five years after establishing a Rural mobility plan (PMRu), the Community of communes Somme South-West is launching its cycling master plan this year, in order to develop soft connections in the region.
This plan is an important project, because, for the moment, only two cycle paths exist: the green casting on the Conty side, and the greenway between Oisemont and Airaines. In total, only 58 kilometers of roads are designed for cycling in the 119 municipalities in the CC2SO territory.
In the next 15 years, com'com wants to develop cycling through the development of cycle paths, with several objectives:
Environmental protection, cost reduction, and health promotion.
Between Beaucamps-le-Vieux college and Poix-de-Picardie station
In the next three years, the CC2SO wants to start its plan with a bicycle route between the college of Beaucamps-le-Vieux and the Poix-de-Picardie station, with a detour via Hornoy-le-Bourg. In total, there will be more than 20 km of development on shared roads on roads “with little traffic”, assures the intermunicipality.
A development that has a cost
At the station Poix-de-Picardie, the project seems to be of interest: “It would allow us not to systematically use the car to take the train, and then I think that it could encourage people to take up cycling,” explains Théo, 18 years old, who came to walk to the station to take your train.
A former Parisian, who came to settle in Poix-de-Picardie, is of the same opinion:
It has to be well thought out in terms of layout and safety. Furthermore, it would be consistent with the requalification of the town center of Poix-de-Picardie.
During the last com'com, elected officials validated the request for subsidies from the State and the Somme Departmental Council. The development would cost CC2SO a total of nearly 200,000 euros.
Prioritization of developments
This route will be completed by several types of facilities for bicycles.
The goal is to create connections between municipalities.
Large municipalities such as Poix-de-Picardie, Beaucamps-le-Vieux or Molliens-Dreuil, but also through the town centers of Liomer or even Lignières-Châtelain. Places that may be very busy are not forgotten, whether activity zones, colleges and MFR, or campsites for the summer period.
These improvements for bicycles will be accompanied by the improvement and addition of infrastructure, such as repair and inflation terminals on cycle paths, as well as secure parking lots to park your bicycle in complete safety.
